In October of 2015, I left little ol’ Ft Polk and drove to a city in Texas 3 hours away that I had never visited before. The city was The Woodlands and I was attending my first ever blogger conference, Mixed Con. This Mama was also leaving my little 5 month baby Stella at home for the first time. Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck. But when I pulled up to the resort that was hosting the conference, and that I was lucky enough to stay at, I instantly relaxed. The Woodlands Resort, is a stunning oasis only 30 minutes outside of Houston. The elegant resort and 60,000 square foot conference center are nestled in 28,000 acres of natural forest and you truly feel transported to a far away luxurious place when you visit.

I had a wonderful short trip away, enjoying myself immensely without ever driving anywhere. I floated on the lazy river, relaxed on my porch overlooking the lake, enjoyed the sauna and steam room, had drinks at resort steakhouse, Robard’s, and enjoyed a mouthwatering poolside buffet breakfast every morning. I also attended the conference full time so I didn’t even get to fully experience everything the resort had to offer. I knew I wanted to return with my family soon so we could relax and enjoy The Woodlands Resort together.
Flash forward to last month and my wish came true! Ashton had a long weekend off so we packed up the car and drove with our two girls back to my favorite place to stay in Texas. The Woodlands Resort generously hosted us for a glorious 3 days and 2 nights and we made the most of every minute. The wonderful thing about this resort is that it is both luxurious and romantic for couples and also a fun filled, family friendly experience for the kiddos too.

What a welcome!
The Woodlands Resort surprised us with a family friendly treat in our room when we arrived!
They set up a giant “Welcome” cookie cake, ice cold milk for the kids and chilled wine for Mommy and Daddy.
What a delicious start to our fun filled weekend!
After devouring their cookie cake in record time, the girls were ready to check out our room.
With two queen beds it was plenty spacious for all four of us, with a large bathroom {perfect for the girls bubble bath later} and patio overlooking the lake. The room also included IPads with all the hotel and local info. I loved that I had all the info I needed from weather, menus, and things to do all set up for me!
Our patio was the perfect spot for play time.
The weather was nice and cool and the room had a screen door so we could let the fresh air in.
The girls brought their books and toys and set up their new play area on the patio in no time.
Their favorite thing to do: use their Dad’s binoculars to watch the birds on the water.
Right away Ava and I had to try on the spa robes provided in the room.
Ah, resort life! Even my little lady loves it!
Time to explore.
We walked around the lakes, lobby, pools, fountains, and restaurants.
So much to do and see. Stella even brought along her camera!
The Forest Oasis Waterscape, lagoon-style pools and lazy river were stunning and I can’t wait to bring the girls back this summer to try the slide and dive in movies!
Bike rentals are included too, which was such a fun activity to do together as a family.
I was so excited that they even had a bike with training wheels
and a helmet for my little go getter Ava.
What a time we had riding along the trails!
Stella didn’t ride but she preferred to run around and explore anyway.
Both girls fell asleep as soon as we were done! We definitely got our exercise that afternoon.
Ava’s favorite thing: the revolving doors to the lobby and conference center.
She would have played there all day if I would have let here.
It’s always the simple things that entertain them the most!
Speaking of the lobby, check out these huge interactive touch screens,
The resort is literally at your fingertips!
I just loved how open and inviting The Woodlands Resort was.
It was elegant yet still charming and homey.
Spa Renity.
The next day was our time away and boy did we enjoy it!
We hired a babysitter and relaxed at the on site spa.
First, we had a couple massage in a romantic candle lit room.
Then we enjoyed some peaceful time sitting by the fire,
Light snacks and cool drinks were provided.
As expected, I didn’t want to leave!
It was just the romantic time away we needed.
Dessert time: I’ll take everything please.
After exploring The Woodlands during the day we decided to try Robard’s Steakhouse.
an elegant steakhouse, for dessert.
Their wine cellar was a sight to see!
IPad drink menus are another fun interactive touch!
With a dessert menu like this I want to try it all!
It may not have been on the dessert menu but I just had to try the Candied Bacon appetizer!
This decadent French Toast may as well have been a dessert. Topped with savory Blue Cheese and Bourbon Cherry Syrup, I could have eaten this every day!
As soon as I saw Dirty Milk and Cookies on the menu I knew it was for me.
The Mudslide Martini was just what I needed wanted!
Ava smartly chose the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie with Oreo cookie crust and caramel drizzle.
The girls gobbled up their pie and ice cream
and I think they may have given us an itty bitty bite or two!
Sugar High.
Late night desserts for little kids may not have been the best idea.
But as they say, “When in Rome”….
A family shot after out late night treats!
Snuggles before bed with my favorite four year old!
I am so happy we were able to spend this relaxing weekend together.
Can we stay forever, please?
Our last morning at the resort, we were well rested and relaxed. I enjoyed a cup of hot tea before heading to the breakfast buffet in the dining room.
During my last visit I enjoy breakfast out by the pool or on the patio overlooking the golf course.
Breakfast and coffee were all you can eat! Just the way we like it!
The girls ate their weight in yogurt and eggs.
Don’t be fooled by Stella mean mugging the camera.
She didn’t want to be bothered while she ate. It’s tough having a food blogger Mom sometimes.
My little helper wanted to pull my suitcase.
We were sad to say “see you later” to The Woodlands Resort.
But don’t worry, we’ll be back!

I keep hearing great things about the Woodlands Resort! 🙂 Would love to stay there one day. I have 2 trips to Texas coming up within the next year, but neither is close to here unfortunately. :/

What a great family getaway, the Woodlands Resort looks awesome!

This was such a fun getaway place. They made sure we were taken care of as soon as we walked in the door. I could tell that they focused on cleanliness. It was obviously well organized because I couldn’t find a crumb anywhere. I will certainly be coming back with my family next year.
