I don’t know about y’all but one of my favorite things to eat at Mexican restaurants are the refried beans. Somehow theirs always tastes much better -creamier, richer, yummier- than any I make at home. So after searching for copycat recipes and testing out a few, I think I figured it out!
These Restaurant Style Cheesy Refried Beans taste just like the delicious ones served at your local Mexican restaurant and even better they are made with just a few simple ingredients.
Now you don’t have to go out for Mexican food- you can make it at home!
OK who am I kidding? Nut seriously these beans are amazing as a dip or a side.
Serve these for your next Taco Tuesday and enjoy!
Restaurant Style Cheesy Refried Beans
Ingredients
- 14-16 oz can refried beans
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 cup Monterey Jack or Mexican blend cheese shredded
- hot sauce to taste {optional}
- Chips for serving {as a dip}
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a bowl, blend together the refried beans and sour cream. You can add hot sauce if you like.
- Pour into a small loaf pan or pie plate and smooth the top.
- Top with shredded cheese on top.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and beans are warmed.
- Serve with tortilla chips for dipping or as a side with tacos, fajitas, burritos -you name it!

The basic ingredients to make regular ol’ refried beans creamy and delicious!
{I used 1/2 of the large can of beans or one regular 14 oz can}
Mix together beans and sour cream until smooth.
Pour into a small baking dish.
I like to use shredded Monterey Jack cheese, Cheddar, or a Mexican Blend cheese.
Top the beans with cheese.
Add a lot- you can never have too much cheese!
Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and beans are warmed.
Serve with tortilla chips for dipping or as a side with tacos, fajitas, burritos, or even taco pizza -you name it!
