Brown Sugar Heart Meatloaf
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 yellow onion grated
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese shredded {optional}
- For the brown sugar glaze:
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a small bowl add ketchup and brown sugar. Stir well and set aside.
- In a large bowl add ground pork, egg, breadcrumbs, seasoning, grated onion, and garlic.
- Mix together by hand.
- Spread a few spoonfuls of brown sugar glaze on the bottom of your baking dish.
- Add half of your meatloaf mixture.
- Add your shredded cheese to the middle then top with the remaining meatloaf, pressing to cover the cheese.
- Spread on the remaining glaze.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until cooked through and no longer pink.
- Gently remove from dish, slice, and serve with mashed potatoes and veggies.

I have tried many different meats in my meatloaf
but I always come back to my favorite- ground pork!
In a large bowl add ground pork, egg, breadcrumbs, seasoning, grated onion,
and garlic. Mix together by hand.
In a small bowl add ketchup and brown sugar. Stir well and set aside.
Spread a few spoonfuls of brown sugar glaze on the bottom of your baking dish.
Add half of your meatloaf mixture.
Add your shredded cheese to the middle then top with the remaining meatloaf,
pressing to cover the cheese.
You can also use heart shaped ramekins for individual meatloaves, ideal for the kiddos.
This recipe made about 4-6 servings depending on how much your kids eat!

Oh this would have been so fun to make for my hubby, he is a meat and potatoes type of guy <3 I especially love the glaze, sometimes meatloaf can come out dry so that would really help!
