When my husband requested baked ham for our Christmas in August celebration, I knew I wanted to make a tasty version for him, but since I had a huge dinner to make on my own, I wanted to make it as easy as possible. So, as it often does, my Crock-Pot came to the rescue!
You are going to love this brown sugar and pineapple crusted ham. It’s so tender it just falls apart and the best thing- just throw it in the Crock-Pot for six hours and forget about it!

I created these delicious Leftover Holiday Ham Baked Sliders with my leftovers from Christmas dinner including this Crock-Pot Ham, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce.

I found this delicious spiral ham at Sam’s Club.
I have used ham anywhere from 3-7 lbs for this recipe.

Lay a base of brown sugar on the bottom of the Crock-Pot.
Place your cooked ham on top of the sugar.
Pour a can of pineapple tidbits with juice on top of the ham. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
Look at this juicy, sweet ham!
This ham made my Christmas in August dinner a lot easier and my husband
I came across your recipe today looking for a ham glaze that doesn't include mustard. I'm trying something similar to this, except not in the crockpot. Wish me luck!
Add dry mustard powder to the sugar … gives a spicy mustard glaze.
add 2 Tbsp of Soy Sauce for a Teriyaki type flavor ….
I'm not a very experienced cook , but i have a question about a Pre-Cooked Ham & 6 – 8 Hours time in the Crockpot / Slowcooker. Would this not dry the Ham Out ?
Oh yes! We made this today exactly as the recipe stated.
The ham was far too dry and tough.
Would not recommend this recipe at all!
Sorry to hear this! I make it every year and I have never had that happen. I do add the juice of the pineapple and cook on low. Is it moist and delicious!
I have family that can’t eat pineapple. how much liquid should I add to replace the pineapple juice
You could try adding another juice like apple or substitute water or broth. I would say 1 cup.
I made it for Christmas and it was okay, but I won’t make it for Christmas again 😔 I prefer mine.
It was okay, just not for a Christmas holiday meal and it wasn’t crispy like recipe stated it was tender but dry on top.
Followed the recipe to the letter 🤔 so not sure what happened.
Was bummed 😔
Sorry it was not your favorite holiday ham! Mine is always juicy but you could also baste with the juices a couple times. Also, as mentioned, you can pop it in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp the top.
We made this for Christmas 2020 and yes after 4 hours on low it dried out what was a great ham. It made the ham tough. The crockpot was at least half full of juices.
So sorry that happened. I have made this almost 100 times and it always comes juicy and tender! Not sure if your lid was not on completely? I know that it can dry out that way. I have tented it with aluminum foil when it is too large for the lid to fit properly and it still comes out great.
Recipe says 4-6 hours. Mine always comes our perfect. Never dried out.
Yes has came out dry every time i make it
I’m sorry that happened. Was your lid on correctly? You can also cover the top in aluminum foil. The ham juices and pineapple keep my ham moist every time. Also adjust your heat and time according to your ham and slowcooker. Low heat for atleast 1-2 hours is ok since the ham is precooked.
No, the brown sugar and pineapples make a nice glaze the you baste over the top of your ham . The ham stays moist. And the crockpot is on low..
Any more questions, just ask. We were all novices at first.
I have a 10 lb ham how long in crockpot
mine was 8.5 lbs and I had it on high for an hour and then low for 4 hours and it was perfect.
What about the cleanup? Could you line the crockpot with foil to help on this?
Reynolds makes crock pot liners. Look for them by the foil.
Thanks – I'm fixing this tomorrow
Me too!
Looking forward to making this for Christmas day and glad I could read some of the comments about length of cooking time. Thank you for sharing.
Is the 6-8 hours for a frozen ham? I have a thawed 7lb ham and just don't want to overcook it!
Thawed will be fine. Check at the 6 hour mark. You can always adjust the cooking time near the end.
I love simple delicious recipes! Saving this and can't wait to try it!!
What do you serve as a side with this?
I serve sweet potato casserole, green beans , turnips (any veggie is good) maybe a green been casserole (if you don't like plain green beans.
Yes, any traditional holiday side dishes and casseroles are good. I love mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts along with some fresh baked bread!
With ham I love to serve au graten potatoes or even some "funeral potatoes". Garlic mashed potatoes are yummy, too. Any veggies and rolls.
What are funeral potatoes
Hashbrown potato casserole : https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/easy-cheesy-funeral-potatoes-for-a-crowd/
What is funeral potaoes?
Sour cream potato casserole
Mashed potatoes and green beans!
We like pineapple casserole. It goes especially well with ham. Basically, it is bread cubes mixed with a can of crushed pineapple and baked. I'm sure there is a recipe for it on Pinterest or somewhere else.
Can u use a ham shank and not spiral
lol
Wow, these recipes sure look good, 'and easy', thanks everyone!
You put bone-in in the ingredients but the SAMs club ham you used is boneless. Is there a difference in Cook time or method?
Thank you
I noticed that, too!
Hello! Sorry about that! No difference at all. The first time I cooked it I used a bone in and the second time {with the main photo} I used boneless. I have updated the post.
If I use a whole boneless ham will the flavor get into the ham? Or should I have it sliced and then tie it together so it doesn't fall apart. That way the flavor will be able to get into the ham. Also, we like honey ham so if I put some honey in there will it get a honey flavor as well?
I was wondering how you got the nice crusty outer shell on the ham. Did you bake in oven at 375 for 15 to 20 mins, or does it get that way just "sitting"? Also, I don't see the previous comments about "no bone" in ham! What am I missing?
Hello! I sprinkle a little extra brown sugar on top of the ham like in the pictures. The crust forms in the Crock-Pot. I have also updated the post. You can use boneless or bone in ham. I have tried both.
Easy directions don't know why some have a problem following you couldn't have explained this recipe any easier Great job Thanks for posting will try very soon
You really don't need to be putting down people for having questions. They may not be as experienced cooks as some of us, maybe they don't know much about slow cookers, or any other number of issues. You're first sentence is entirely uncalled for.
Good Grief
Nothing wrong with what was said. It is pretty easy to follow. People are way too sensitive these days. Geez. Anyways, easy recipe and so delicious. Thanks for a great recipe.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People need to think back to the first time they tried something new. A ham is not cheap, so you don't want to ruin it. What's wrong with asking questions if it's not clear to YOU? This is what's wrong with the internet—it's full of people who can't wait to put others down.
Sure, absolutely no problem with asking questions that haven't been addressed, either in messages or recipe text and/or pictures. Please just make sure that you watch the video, read the text, etc. Let's remember that others are spending their precious time posting these recipes and have included quite a lot of information in order to help us re-create them. Let's invest OUR time in reading and watching…creating an investment that in the end, produces something good and positive. While I agree that we can sometimes be too sensitive, I also feel that we tend to want others to do most of the work while we just reap the benefits. Nice recipe! 🙂

Thank you so much Linda! This means a lot!
Always be kind – you never know what someone else is going through at the moment.
Just want to confirm, do I need to cook ham first seperately before putting in crock pot?
It is a precooked/smoked ham.
I make my ham every year with pineapples and brown sugar, but never in a slow cooker. Gonna give this a try this year so I can just put it in there and not have to worry about it. Good idea! God bless
This looks amazing. My husband doesn't like pineapple but this just mainly makes it juicy and doesn't have the taste of the pineapple correct?
Thanks so much!
Yes, the pineapple and brown sugar make a nice sweet glaze and cooking liquid but it is not a strong pineapple taste.
You probably could use orange juice instead of pineapple, if you don't care for pineapple.
I've have a similar recipie..I use coke instead of as much brown sugar, so you could use coke instead of pineapple…which also will give it that same tenderness the pineapple does. Root beer is a good soda to use too.
Couldn't I use straight pineapple juice without the tidbits/chunks?
Yes, but the chunks are such a good treat
I always use apple or orange juice instead of pineapples.
I use apple cider … Delish!
any acidic fruit will tenderize meat from what I've been told.
I like adding apple sauce to my glaze when I cook ham, you could try that instead. It blends well with the brown sugar, since he doesn't like pineapple.
I'm allergic to pineapple so I used can peaches, it's soooo good
Approximately how many does this feed?
Hard to say- depends on the size of your ham. I would say on average they are 5-6 lbs so about 12-14 people? A little less if using bone in ham.
Can this be done same way but in the oven
Could you do this with a non pre cooked ham? It's smoked but not cooked.
Yes, smoked ham is fine. That is what I use.
oh my days…what is a spiral-cut ham? we definitely don't have those here in Blighty
It is pre-sliced partially through.
I had to ask the butcher at Ralph's for the Spiral Sliced Ham. They are not on display (strange) with the other cooked hams and turkeys… They have them in the back 😉
i hate to be a spoil sport but a browned crunchy coating on a ham like the one in the cover photo can not be obtained by cooking solely in a slow cooker. The boneless ham does appear to have been cooked in a slow cooker with pineapple as it is paler without brown crust. A skillet, hot oven, grill or broiler is required for significant browning. The liquid from pineapple tendsto prevent crunchy browned crusts.
I assure you I cooked this ham only in my slow cooker with sugar rubbed on top like the picture. I took the final picture right after I took the lid off. It sure is one good lookin ham!
yes it certainly is, thank you SO much for this recipe, we had ham for thanksgiving and it was tough so I am SO glad I found your recipe so I can have this for Christmas, I am going to go stalk all of your other recipes now, again thank you !!!
Mine is crunchy and I cooked in my crockpot, too! Thanks for sharing your recipe!
I use my slow cooker for everything and I have even made oven roasted chicken with a crunch coat. The key is not adding liquid. So yes you can achieve tbd Brown crunch on this ham in a crockpot
Don't you just love know it alls?
This might seem like a silly question but I like to put cloves in my ham. How would that work with this recipe. Thanks
I use ground clove and finely sprinkle it all over.
Ground cloves or cloves placed throughout the ham is a fabulous taste that's always a true hit!
Some of these comments are crazy. Lol… looks amazing and will make it for thanksgiving. Thank you!! BTW you can definitely get a brown, crunchy crust like that from a crockpot!!
Oh my goodness…looks great! I will try this for Thanksgiving. Easy instructions too! I am confused as to why some find it hard to follow. I have cooked many things in my crock pot and obtained a brown crusty finish. Thanks for the recipe!
Looks great and so easy–thank you for the easy to follow directions–will be trying this soon!
I roast my whole chickens in the crockpot. Always has a crispy crust. The meat is not swimming in liquid! Another thing, why are people wanting the ham to be crispy, is what I ask???? Baked ham, Crockpot ham, comes out the same, I find. Thanks for your recipe, Nichole
Looks great! I love pineapple.
Does it have to be a spiral ham
No, but I would preslice it deeply just to get each ham slice exposed to all the juices of the brown sugar and pineapple juice.
Definitely helps each slice of ham get that yummy taste.
If you use a larger ham do you need to use 2 cans of pineapple?
If you have a Crock-Pot big enough for a larger ham sure add more juice!
iT IS GOOD ITH NOT JUST THE PINEAPPLE BUT CHERRY JUICE TOO.
Is it possible to use something other than pineapple? Or maybe use half pineapple and half something else? Looks delicious!
You could use just pineapple juice, or even coke or rootbeer. Someone else mentioned they've used cherry juice…maybe maraschino cherry juice?
Can you use a frozen ham?
