It’s Disney Week here on the blog and today I wanted to share one of my favorite sandwich recipes with y’all, that just so happens to be served at Disney World. Croque Monsieur
is a decadent French style grilled or baked ham and cheese sandwich that is served at Be Our Guest restaurant in Magic Kingdom.
You can make this sandwich open faced and baked or as a traditional grilled sandwich the way Disney does. It usually comes with a rich bechamel sauce on top but for an easy shortcut I made a spread with sour cream and Dijon mustard like the restaurant serves. I hope you enjoy this recipe and my pictures from the amazing Be Our Guest castle restaurant!
It really is one of my favorite restaurants EVER.
Lots of menu choices for lunch.
Tip- Use the Disney App to get a dining reservation. Dinner is hard to get but lunch you can usually score a reservations 20-30 days ahead.
I have been wanting to eat at Be Our Guest for years and could never score a reservation.
But this solo trip- I got lucky!
Disney goes all out like they always do!
The Beast’s castle is amazing. Every design is stunning.
My Be Our Guest meal included the Croque Monsieur sandwich with green beans. I substituted green beans for fries and was glad I did! Seriously, some of the best green beans I have ever tasted. I also had a cup of French Onion Soup and a Grey Stuff cupcake for dessert.
I knew I had to try the French Onion soup and boy am I glad I did!
It was full of flavor and lots of cheese!
After my big ol’ lunch I was stuffed but the Grey Stuff was calling my name!
So I ordered a Grey Stuff cupcake. It was moist and delicious and beautifully presented.
Don’t believe me – ask the dishes!

The restaurant is certainly as large as a castle and has three dining rooms that can serve a total of 550 guests! For this visit I dined in the Ballroom.
There is also a stunning Rose Gallery room.
Then there is the dark and mysterious West Wing of the Beast’s castle where you can hear thunder and see the enchanted rose on display!
Posing in my villain dress and ears with my Grey Stuff cupcake.
I didn’t try to match my food- I promise!

If you can’t get reservations for Be Our Guest or you are looking for another spot for a meal or snack try Gaston’s Tavern, right next door. Lefou’s Brew is a must try for the whole family!
There is a hilarious fountain out front and Gaston himself is usually around signing autographs.
By the way, I rocked this Gaston bow on my magic band just in case I saw the man himself!
